In 2009 I participated in a project. A consortium of fifty regional documentary artist-photographers, directed by Helen K. Garber, showcased An Intimate View of Southern California at MOPLA’s opening reception at Bergamot Station as a featured installation. A preview of this show was hosted by the Lucie Foundation at the LA Art Show. Each of GROUPSC’s photographers embedded their signature style into the documentation of their region’s unique neighborhoods where they reside, work or play, resulting in a gestalt of fifty, up-to-the-minute perspectives tinged with current affairs.
I documented the reclusive, mountain community of Ojai where I resided for many years. From the coffee shop hangouts, to the streets of Meiners Oaks, the local law enforcement and of course, the Ojai Day/Night Mandala painting, I captured the spirit and the reality of the Ojai Valley in 2009 and had the great pleasure of showcasing my work at gallery Skart, Bergamot Station, LA Art Show and Pershing Square as well as meet and work with many talented photographers.
